Shared Memory Graph for MCP Agents: How to Give Multiple Agents a Single Source of Truth
Blog post from FalkorDB
Shared memory for multi-agent systems requires explicit graph schemas, server-enforced write ownership, and provenance to prevent agents from creating conflicting or duplicate information. Unlike isolated per-agent memory, a shared graph lets all agents immediately access current entities, tasks, and decisions, but it needs defined permissions and audit fields such as agent identity, timestamps, and sources. The proposed schema models agents, users, tasks, entities, and decisions, while limiting each role to specific write operations and granting read access across the graph. An MCP server acts as the sole gateway for writes to FalkorDB, authenticating agents, checking role-based permissions, and using read-only queries for safe retrieval. Entity deduplication should combine name normalization with embedding similarity, while contradictory decisions should be superseded atomically, preserving prior versions for audit while ensuring only one active decision is returned.
