Build an agent loop that fixes mobile bugs and proves each fix
Blog post from Expo
Expo describes an agent-assisted workflow for resolving mobile production bugs that combines EAS Observe error reporting, cloud-based Expo Simulators, coding agents, and human review. Errors captured through the expo-observe library provide stack traces, occurrence counts, affected users, platform details, and version context, which a developer can selectively hand to an agent through a prepared prompt. The agent investigates the relevant source code, reproduces the issue on a simulator build matching the affected release, records the failure, implements a fix, and repeats the same steps on a fixed build to generate screenshots, recordings, and session logs as evidence. These artifacts are attached to a pull request, where a reviewer can inspect the proof, launch the fixed build through a browser link, and optionally rely on a separate agent to independently test the change. Humans retain authority over assigning bugs, evaluating evidence, merging changes, and approving releases, while JavaScript-only fixes may be deployed through EAS Update and native changes require a new store build; EAS Observe then tracks whether the error persists after release.
