Summary

Exa has introduced Exa 3.0, an update to its AI search platform that it says improves retrieval quality across public benchmarks and specialized tasks such as coding, finance, research, and company intelligence. The release features a larger embedding model, generally available Dynamic Highlights that reduce token use by 95% while aiming to improve result relevance, and an expanded independent index covering more than 2 trillion URLs and 100 billion served pages. New indexed data includes 1.27 billion ecommerce listings, over 211 million local businesses, and real-time information on news, sports, weather, markets, flights, events, transit, and podcasts. Exa 3.0 also launches Exa Lite, a lower-cost search option priced at $4 per 1,000 requests, while Exa Auto costs $7 per 1,000 requests and uses additional retrieval compute for higher-quality results. The updated search capabilities, highlights, and data sources are available through Exa’s API, with a live Q&A scheduled for October 21, 2026.
