Esper's EdgeBox is a managed service designed to enhance the efficiency of device management by allowing operations to be executed locally on edge devices, rather than relying on cloud communication. By building on the capabilities of the previously used Local Cache, EdgeBox enables significantly faster device provisioning and drastically reduces Internet bandwidth requirements for tasks such as deploying over-the-air updates and application versions. EdgeBox can be used with either customer-owned hardware or pre-configured gateway devices provided by Esper, with local devices communicating directly with a gateway device that interfaces with the Esper Cloud, ensuring efficient data transfer and management operations.
