Epsilla v0.1 represents a major update to the platform, transforming it into a scalable, fully distributed system designed for production use with significant enhancements in scalability and reliability. Key features include support for sharding vector data to enable horizontal scaling, dynamic sharding expansion, and automatic replica scaling to handle data growth and variable traffic demands, all while maintaining a user-friendly interface. The architecture has shifted from a single-node setup to a distributed deployment model, allowing for versatile deployment on on-premises Kubernetes clusters or managed cloud services such as Amazon EKS, Google GKE, and Azure AKS. The new architectural design separates compute and storage functions, supports shared storage for all replicas, and leverages a leader-follower model for efficient ANN index management and data synchronization. The distributed mode is currently available through the Epsilla Enterprise package, with future access planned for Epsilla Cloud, and the team encourages community contributions via GitHub and Discord.
