Scribe v2 Medical is now available to everyone

ElevenLabs has released Scribe v2 Medical, a generally available speech-to-text model fine-tuned for clinical audio and accessible through its API. Designed to improve transcription of medications, dosages, medical terminology, and multilingual clinical dictation, the model reportedly reduces clinical-audio word error rates by about 35% versus the base Scribe v2 model and achieved leading results in evaluations on Corti’s MedDictate and MedTerm benchmarks as well as the Eka Medical ASR dataset. The company reports particularly strong accuracy for annotated medical terms, though isolated drug names without contextual speech remain difficult for all evaluated systems; keyterm prompting can help bias transcription toward specified terms. ElevenLabs says the specialized model retains comparable performance on general non-medical speech, has already been adopted by clinical customers, and is HIPAA-eligible for enterprise users with a Business Associate Agreement and Zero Retention Mode, which deletes audio and text after API requests complete.
