Summary

ElevenLabs has launched Eleven Realtime, a speech-to-speech model family intended to simplify voice-agent development by combining capabilities that would otherwise require separate systems for speech recognition, turn-taking, language modeling, and text-to-speech. The release includes Realtime v1 Mini, positioned as a lower-cost option for assistants, education, and interactive characters, and Realtime v1 Max, designed for more complex customer-support, lead-qualification, and tool-using workflows; both support over 90 languages and more than 17,000 available voices. Independent benchmarks cited by the company found that Max achieved 98.8% accuracy on Big Bench Audio compared with Mini’s 75.9%, while average response-start times were 0.57 and 0.62 seconds respectively; Mini performed slightly better on conversational dynamics, and Max led in tool-use completion. The models are available through ElevenAgents, which includes deployment channels and production features, or through a WebSocket-based Realtime API compatible with OpenAI’s Realtime API specifications, allowing existing integrations to switch endpoints and model names.
