How Cadence reaches at-risk patients faster with voice AI
Blog post from ElevenLabs
Cadence, a chronic disease care provider serving more than 100,000 patients across over 20 health systems, deployed ElevenAgents voice AI to accelerate outreach following abnormal vital readings amid rising alert volumes and a growing patient population. Using a HIPAA-compliant, low-latency platform integrated with its existing systems, Cadence built an alert-screening agent that conducts symptom assessments and transfers appropriate cases to nurses under embedded clinical protocols. After a human-supervised pilot and validation process, the agent reportedly adhered to clinical guardrails in all tested calls, reduced median patient-contact time from 1 hour and 48 minutes to 3.5 minutes, resolved 60% of screened alerts without clinician intervention, and increased answer rates by 47% relative to human RN outreach. Cadence handled 250,000 calls in its first seven months and plans to extend the agents to scheduling, device support, appointment preparation, and patient engagement, positioning the technology as a way to expand clinicians’ capacity rather than replace them.
