Summary

ElevenLabs has made Music v2.5 the default model for prompted and reference-based generation in ElevenMusic, describing it as producing more layered, coherent songs with more natural instruments than Music v2, particularly in vocal-led and acoustic-heavy genres such as R&B, soul, hip hop, rock, metal, orchestral, and cinematic music. The company reports that v2.5 was preferred more often in a blind comparison involving 47,885 paired generations, while Music v2 remains available. Lossless downloads are now offered across plans, with Free users receiving five per day and commercial-use rights when crediting ElevenMusic, while Pro users receive 400 per month; usage permissions remain attached to tracks even after cancellation, downgrading, or future terms changes. Downloads are not permitted for tracks referencing other artists’ songs, reflecting protections for rights holders. Music v2.5 is also available through ElevenCreative and the ElevenLabs API for uses including video scoring, Flows workflows, and product integrations, and ElevenLabs notes that its separate strategic agreement with Universal Music Group does not relate to this release.
