ALS patients in Spain can now restore their voices for free
Blog post from ElevenLabs
ElevenLabs has partnered with Spain’s ALS association adELA to provide free voice restoration and preservation technology to eligible people living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, marking the company’s first Spanish initiative under its Impact Program. The partnership enables patients to create digital versions of their voices either by recording new samples before speech changes significantly or by uploading older recordings if their voices have already been affected. The announcement highlights aviation engineer and programming teacher Aníbal Martín, who was diagnosed with ALS and uses a restored digital voice to continue teaching and communicating in a voice that reflects his identity. With an estimated 4,000 to 4,500 people living with ALS in Spain, the program aims to help preserve communication, autonomy, dignity, and social participation for people who may lose their speech.
