Elastic Security and OpenAI GPT Cyber models: What frontier cyber defense means for the public sector
Blog post from Elastic
Elastic announced plans to integrate OpenAI’s GPT Cyber models into Elastic Security through its managed, GPU-accelerated Elastic Inference Service, providing AI-supported alert triage, investigations, detection engineering, and remediation within existing security workflows. The initiative is part of the OpenAI Daybreak Defense Network, which also includes a $1 billion program intended to subsidize access for public agencies and essential-service operators, alongside a pilot with MS-ISAC focused initially on water systems. Elastic positions the integration as a response to rising AI-enabled cyberattacks, analyst shortages, and threats to critical infrastructure, while citing federal efforts that encourage flexible log storage, AI-based threat detection, and visibility across IT and operational technology. The company says its platform combines SIEM, endpoint and cloud security, long-term data retention, automation, detection rules, and federated search, and that its model-agnostic design can support government-managed, classified, or air-gapped AI deployments where OpenAI-hosted inference is unsuitable, with human analysts retaining control.
