Elastic Security has identified a new data wiper malware campaign called HERMETICWIPER, which is targeting Ukrainian organizations and aims to render systems unbootable by tampering with the boot process and wiping data from the file system. This malware tactic is commonly used by adversaries to incapacitate drives. Elastic Security's solution can automatically detect and block HERMETICWIPER, and other security vendors have also confirmed its presence.
