Elastic has announced the general availability of Cross-Project Search for Elastic Cloud Serverless, allowing organizations to run unified queries across up to 100 linked projects spanning regions, cloud providers, and project types while leaving data in place. Designed to address visibility challenges created by data residency, tenant isolation, and distributed organizational structures, the feature merges results across projects for Observability, Security, Search, vector database, machine learning, and AI-agent workloads without requiring users to manage deployment topology, certificates, version coordination, or per-connection authentication. Projects can be linked through the Cloud console, after which Discover, ES|QL, dashboards, alerting, and anomaly detection can search linked data by default, with Kibana controls and routing rules enabling users and administrators to limit queries to selected projects or tags. Access remains governed by each user’s permissions within every individual project, while a new role enables non-owners to create API keys for programmatic CPS use. Elastic says CPS is available across all serverless project types, though Observability and Security require the Complete tier, and pricing includes mounted-data charges plus standard egress fees for transferred query results.
