Twilio Segment is a widely-used Customer Data Platform (CDP) for capturing and routing user behavior data, but many implementations face challenges in capturing all events due to privacy regulations, ad blockers, and mobile network variability. These issues result in significant data loss, as only a fraction of users consent to tracking, and many requests are blocked by ad blockers or fail on unstable networks. The article introduces Edgee as a solution to these problems by enabling event collection at the edge, rather than relying on client-side JavaScript SDKs. Edgee uses lightweight WebAssembly components, which are less susceptible to interference from ad blockers and connectivity issues, and also handle user consent more effectively. The transition to Edgee involves replacing the traditional analytics.js with Edgee's SDK, offering improved compliance, reduced client-side overhead, and better website performance. Users can choose between a gradual or full replacement strategy to migrate their systems, with Edgee promising more accurate and compliant data collection without compromising user privacy.
