Quasar 438B is on Eden AI: Benchmarks, Pricing, and API Access
Blog post from Eden AI
Multiverse Computing released Quasar 438B on September 2, 2026, positioning its first proprietary large model as a high-performing European option for reasoning, agentic coding, and long-context workloads. According to Artificial Analysis results cited in the release, it scored 43 on the Intelligence Index, ranking first among European models and 13th of 178 globally, while offering a 1 million-token context window, a 69.3 Terminal-Bench v2.1 score, and a 75.0 AA-LCR long-context reasoning score. Developed by the Spanish company behind the CompactifAI compression platform, Quasar has 438 billion parameters and is presented as more efficient than NVIDIA Nemotron 3 Ultra, which has more parameters but a lower index score. It supports tool calling, structured outputs, English and Spanish, and always-on reasoning whose separately returned trace contributes to output-token costs. Available through Eden AI as compactifai/quasar-438b, it costs $0.60 per million input tokens and $1.80 per million output tokens, making it most suitable for difficult planning, coding, repository analysis, and document-review tasks rather than simple automated operations. Although it narrows the capability gap for European AI providers, it remains API-only, lacks support for languages such as French and German, and trails leading global frontier models on the same benchmark.
