Replicas provides cloud-based coding agents that can be activated through Slack, Linear, or GitHub to clone repositories, run development environments, test changes, and submit pull requests. Its agents require persistent, high-capacity computing environments because they run full engineering workloads, including builds, databases, dev servers, and nested Docker containers. After reliability and performance problems with a Docker-based sandbox, as well as trials of AWS EC2 and several other providers during a critical fundraising period, Replicas adopted E2B’s MicroVM-based infrastructure. By using E2B Snapshots to preserve prepared customer workspaces with repositories and dependencies already configured, Replicas can rapidly launch agents from Slack or ticket assignments. The company reports that E2B worked reliably from the start, reduced latency by more than 60% for heavy workloads, saved roughly three weeks of sandbox debugging, and now supports engineering work for more than 20 YC companies. Replicas plans to expand toward autonomous agent fleets that manage broader engineering workflows while relying on isolated, dependable environments for larger teams and enterprise customers.
