A significant challenge in commercializing homomorphic encryption has been securely sharing computation results without exposing secret decryption keys or requiring the data owner to manually decrypt and share the results. Previous methods either risked key leakage by sharing decryption keys or burdened the data owner with sharing decrypted results. To address this, Duality developed an innovative solution using Proxy Re-Encryption (PRE), which allows a data owner to authorize specific recipients to access encrypted data by sharing their public key. An evaluation key, which functions as both a public and re-encryption key, is generated by the data owner and can be freely shared without compromising security. This key enables the computation server to re-encrypt the encrypted output so that only the designated recipient can decrypt it using their secret key. Duality's approach to PRE not only simplifies encrypted computing by eliminating the need for key sharing but also maintains practicality with minimal additional overhead, making it an accessible solution for secure result sharing.
