Ditto has introduced a new feature for system-wide data deletion that simplifies data management by allowing users to delete records with a single command, which are then automatically synced and evicted across all devices and the cloud. This update, led by Skyler Jokiel, Director of Product - API & SDK, ensures that data is consistently up-to-date across all platforms and eliminates the need for manual eviction, reducing ghost data. The process involves marking documents as deleted, syncing these changes to connected peers, and applying a Time-to-Live (TTL) countdown, after which the document is permanently removed. The new feature is available in Edge SDK version 4.10.0 or later and is rolling out for Cloud Server as well, offering a more efficient data lifecycle management experience. Users are encouraged to upgrade to the latest SDK versions and review documentation for comprehensive guidance on utilizing this enhanced data deletion capability.
