An Update to Our Cloud Tiers
Blog post from Directus
Directus is evolving its Cloud offering by retiring the Starter Cloud tier, which was originally designed to provide a simple entry point for evaluating the platform. This decision comes as maintaining isolated, production-grade infrastructure for numerous small instances has become costly and complex. The trend of smaller projects opting for self-hosting has emerged, allowing users full control, better performance, and potentially lower costs. In response, Directus is focusing on simplifying self-hosting by enhancing documentation, guides, and partnerships. The launch of an official Directus CMS template on Railway marks the first step in this direction, enabling users to easily start a Directus project on a cost-efficient platform. Directus is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for current Starter Cloud users, whether they choose to move to another Cloud tier or migrate to self-hosting.
