SMTP restricted by default
Blog post from DigitalOcean
Spam communications are prevalent in various forms of communication, including postal mail, email, phone, and SMS. Service providers continually battle against the misuse of their platforms by spammers. DigitalOcean has decided to disable Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) on new accounts as part of its spam reduction measures. This decision is based on the observation that most spam comes from new accounts. The company will continue monitoring spam activity and partnering with email delivery providers for routing mail from DigitalOcean Infrastructure.
