Summary

On August 8th, 2022, DigitalOcean discovered that their Mailchimp account had been compromised as part of a wider Mailchimp security incident affecting crypto and blockchain customers. This led to the exposure of certain DigitalOcean customer email addresses. A small number of customers experienced attempted compromise of their accounts through password resets, which have since been secured. As of August 9th, DigitalOcean has migrated email services away from Mailchimp. No other customer information was compromised, but increased vigilance against phishing attempts is recommended in the coming weeks, along with enabling two-factor authentication on DigitalOcean accounts.
