Critical PHP Vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 & CVE-2026-109619)
Blog post from Detectify
On October 20, 2026, the PHP security team announced two critical core PHP vulnerabilities, CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619, each rated CVSS 9.2 and potentially enabling unauthenticated remote code execution across supported and legacy PHP versions. Although technical details remain restricted, the flaws could affect a broad range of PHP-powered services, including WordPress, Drupal, Magento, and Laravel or Symfony applications, making rapid exploitation likely after disclosure. Detectify reports that it has deployed five non-destructive scanning assessments and continuous asset-discovery capabilities to identify exposed PHP workloads, including shadow and legacy systems. Organizations are urged to apply official updates immediately, including PHP 8.2.35, 8.3.36, 8.4.27, or 8.5.12, while users of end-of-life versions should obtain vendor backports or migrate to supported releases. Where patching is delayed, recommended temporary measures include restricting request payloads, adjusting memory and worker isolation settings, disabling session upload progress and PHP 8.5 fatal-error backtraces, resolving reachable fatal errors, inventorying internet-facing assets, and isolating vulnerable services behind controlled gateways or strict web application firewalls.
