Deepgram Achieves Key Milestone on Path to Delivering Next-Gen, Enterprise-Grade Speech-to-Speech Architecture
Blog post from Deepgram
Deepgram announced a speech-to-speech AI architecture that bypasses text conversion by fusing latent representations from speech recognition, language modeling, and speech synthesis components. The company says this approach can reduce latency while better preserving intonation, emotion, pacing, and conversational context than conventional speech-to-text-to-speech pipelines or turn-based multimodal language models. To make the system practical for enterprise use, Deepgram combines transfer learning and pre-trained models to reduce the otherwise immense audio-data and computing requirements, while retaining the ability to decode intermediate representations into text for debugging, oversight, and hallucination monitoring. The planned production model will be available through Deepgram’s existing voice-agent API and integrated with platform features such as model customization, automation, synthetic-data generation, data curation, model switching, and enterprise integrations for uses including customer service, real-time agents, and multilingual voice applications.
