"In-test" vs "out-of-test" accessibility automation

Cypress Accessibility offers a novel approach to accessibility automation by moving checks out of the test execution phase and integrating them into the processing pipelines of Cypress Cloud. Unlike traditional "in-test" accessibility checks, which can be slow and resource-intensive, the "out-of-test" method leverages Test Replay data and rules from the Axe-Core® library to generate detailed reports without affecting test performance. This approach eliminates the need for setup and training, providing inspectable HTML and CSS snapshots, detailed page/component reports, and built-in analytics, all while maintaining the original test behavior and performance. As a result, it allows teams to execute comprehensive accessibility scans across entire user journeys efficiently, producing actionable insights and enhancing the debugging experience.
