Cypress 10.2.0: Run tests up to 2x faster on Apple silicon (M1)
Blog post from Cypress
Cypress 10.2.0 introduces native support for Apple silicon, specifically the M1 and M2 Mac processors, enhancing performance and speed for users running tests on these devices. Previously, Cypress tests on M1 Macs required Intel emulation through Rosetta 2, but the new update eliminates this need by providing native Apple silicon builds. As a result, users can experience significant improvements, with tests in Electron running 2.5 times faster and a 70% reduction in the time taken to open the Cypress app. This update aims to deliver optimal performance, speed, and reliability for Cypress users on Apple devices, and the appropriate native binary is installed automatically upon upgrading.
