In response to recent confusion over its pricing changes, Cursor has apologized and clarified the new Pro plan, which now includes $20 of frontier model usage per month and the option to purchase additional usage at cost, with unlimited usage available when using the Auto mode. Previously, pricing was based on a request model that was not intuitive for users. The adjustment aims to better reflect usage costs, especially for complex tasks, by shifting to API-based pricing. Despite most users' costs remaining stable, the company acknowledged communication missteps and offered refunds for unexpected charges incurred between June 16 and July 4. Cursor is committed to improving transparency in future pricing updates and has enhanced its documentation and dashboard to help users monitor their usage and avoid surprises.
