October 2026 Patch Tuesday: 1,413 CVEs Include Three Zero-Days and 75 Critical Vulnerabilities
Blog post from Crowdstrike
CrowdStrike’s analysis of Microsoft’s October 2026 Patch Tuesday reports 1,413 fixed vulnerabilities, including one actively exploited zero-day, two publicly disclosed zero-days, and 75 critical flaws, with elevation of privilege, remote code execution, and information disclosure representing the largest vulnerability categories. The most significant risks involve unauthenticated, network-reachable remote-code-execution vulnerabilities affecting widely deployed or high-value services and components such as Outlook, Office, QUIC, DHCP Server, PostScript Printer Driver, Message Queuing, Exchange Server, Remote Desktop Gateway, Active Directory Domain Services, and AD FS. Several flaws can be triggered with little or no user interaction through email preview panes, malicious documents, network packets, image thumbnails, or exposed infrastructure services, while Hyper-V vulnerabilities could enable guest-to-host escapes and local Windows vulnerabilities could facilitate SYSTEM-level privilege escalation after initial access. The analysis emphasizes that organizations should prioritize patching internet-facing services, identity infrastructure, email and document-processing software, and critical network services, while maintaining asset visibility, reviewing exposure paths, and applying compensating mitigations where patches are unavailable or delayed.
