The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated digital transformation, compelling organizations to adopt Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) solutions to manage increased data demands. A performance benchmark report by Altoros compared three NoSQL DBaaS offerings—Couchbase Cloud, MongoDB Atlas, and Amazon DynamoDB—across various workloads and cluster configurations. The report found Couchbase Cloud consistently outperformed its competitors, demonstrating low latency and high throughput in update-heavy, short-range scan, pagination, and JOIN query workloads. While MongoDB Atlas performed well in certain scenarios, it struggled with JOIN operations, and Amazon DynamoDB faced challenges due to its indexing process, resulting in a high rate of failed operations. Overall, Couchbase Cloud was identified as the most robust and scalable document store DBaaS among the three.
