Index Service Improvements in Couchbase Server 7.2.2 : Part 1

The Couchbase Indexing Team has improved the indexing service on Capella, a cloud database, with the goal of achieving faster scaling operations, better support for low-end hardware, and improved handling of slow disk I/O. The new features include increasing the number of indexes being moved in a batch, avoiding index movement between existing nodes, and enabling empty-node batching to reduce the load on data services. These improvements aim to improve overall user experience by reducing the overhead of scaling operations. Experimental results show significant reductions in time taken for scale-out operations, as well as improved query latencies. The new features are enabled by default on provisioned Capella clusters and can be customized using REST commands.
