The General Availability (GA) of Couchbase Lite 2.8 and Sync Gateway 2.8 has been announced, introducing significant enhancements to sync technology for disconnected and distributed cloud deployments. The release includes enterprise-grade inter-Sync Gateway replication for secure cloud-to-edge data sync at scale on Sync Gateway, as well as out-of-the-box support for peer-to-peer data sync in IP-based networks on Couchbase Lite. This release also introduces OIDC enhancements, Prometheus monitoring support (in developer preview), and API enhancements to the Couchbase Lite database. The new features are designed to make it easier for developers to implement secure data sync in various scenarios, including cloud-to-edge deployments and offline-first applications.
