Tinfoil Switches to Context.dev for Web Scraping with Zero Data Retention

Tinfoil, a Y Combinator X25 company co-founded by Sacha Servan-Schreiber, selected Context.dev for web scraping and metadata services used by its privacy-preserving web search agent because of the provider’s zero data retention policy. Tinfoil, which develops private AI products including chat tools, inference APIs, and secure application containers, had previously used Zyte but changed providers after finding Context.dev’s retention commitments clearer and better aligned with its privacy requirements. Servan-Schreiber reported that obtaining an API key and integrating the service through a coding agent took under five minutes, with the setup working on the first attempt and delivering satisfactory results. He also cited Context.dev’s onboarding instructions and SDKs as factors that simplified and improved the integration experience.
