Second of 13 web search APIs on Openbenchmarks, from a benchmark we do not run
Blog post from Context.dev
Openbenchmarks’ public factual-lookup benchmark, last measured on 21 October 2026, ranked Context.dev second among 13 vendors with 98.0% extracted-answer accuracy on 300 recent company-news questions, behind Exa’s fast endpoint at 99.3%, while Context.dev’s answer recall in the top five results reached 98.3%. The benchmark standardizes queries, result limits, extraction, and judging, measuring only whether returned titles and snippets enable a model to answer single factual questions, rather than hard retrieval, multi-hop search, freshness, or other product capabilities. At a published price of $4.40 per 1,000 queries, Context.dev’s estimated cost was $4.49 per 1,000 correct answers, the lowest among the five highest-accuracy services listed. On a related company-news comparison using the same questions, Context.dev, a general web search API, scored substantially higher than dedicated news indexes, whose top score was 58.3%, though the benchmark notes that it does not assess features such as indexing speed, streaming, or webhooks.
