A competitor benchmarked 7 scraping APIs on 806 URLs. Context.dev had the highest success rate.
Blog post from Context.dev
An independently published WebCrawlerAPI benchmark compared seven scraping APIs across 806 active URLs from Firecrawl’s public dataset, using default Markdown settings, disabled caching where possible, and open-source word-overlap scoring against reference content. Context.dev recorded the highest end-to-end success rate at 92.1%, meaning it returned at least 10% of expected main-content words for the largest share of URLs, ahead of Firecrawl at 89.7% and WebCrawlerAPI and Crawl4AI Cloud at 88.0%; it also had a 2.9-second median latency, while Crawl4AI Cloud was identified as the overall fastest median performer in the benchmark’s broader results and WebCrawlerAPI as producing the cleanest Markdown. Context.dev’s default output retains full-page material such as navigation, footers, and notices, whereas its optional main-content-only setting increased extraction F1 from 0.176 to 0.567 and noise-free responses from 92.6% to 98.0%, with success declining to 89.7%, matching Firecrawl’s default rate. The results are limited to a single run and a specific dataset, do not assess structural preservation, pricing, uptime, or large-scale crawling, and are best interpreted as a reproducible point-in-time comparison rather than a universal ranking.
