Summary

TrueFoundry AI Gateway integrates with Confident AI to provide production LLM tracing and quality evaluation through a shared OpenTelemetry-based pipeline, eliminating the need to instrument each application separately. The gateway centralizes OpenAI-compatible model access, authentication, routing, rate limits, and guardrails while generating asynchronous traces containing model, token, request, response, and execution data with minimal latency. These traces are exported over OTLP/HTTP to Confident AI, which reconstructs and classifies them before applying configurable server-side Evaluation Rules for referenceless metrics such as answer relevancy, faithfulness, toxicity, and PII leakage. Evaluation occurs after user responses are delivered, so it does not add latency or cause requests to fail if the external telemetry endpoint is unavailable. Teams can control sampling, metrics, and whether prompts and completions are exported, balancing quality analysis with privacy requirements, while optional in-code tracing can add user and conversation context unavailable at the gateway layer.
