Announcing Sail: A universal standard for instant dev envs
Blog post from Coder
Coder has introduced Sail, a universal standard for instant dev environments. The aim is to accelerate workflow by orchestrating development environments. Following the success of code-server, which separates Visual Studio Code's frontend and backend, Sail allows projects to define their own development environment via a single Dockerfile. It eliminates the "It worked on my machine" problem and provides an experience that feels local but dedicated to the project at hand. Future support for more editors is anticipated.
