In preparation for Dockercon, the organizers decided to give away an extra badge by inviting the community to share their best Docker stories, ultimately awarding the prize to a user named ghostcopy for a fictional tale about being swallowed by the symbolic Docker whale, Moby Dock. This story highlighted the challenges of working with monolithic architectures and inefficient virtual machines, contrasting them with the agility and scalability of Docker containers. Although many compelling stories were submitted, including one from arcticblue who credited Docker for enabling a life-changing move and financial benefits for family medical care, the creative narrative by ghostcopy, which metaphorically depicted a journey from outdated practices to embracing modern containerization, won the ticket to Dockercon in Austin, Texas. Arcticblue received a Raspberry Pi as a runner-up reward, and the stories were shared on Reddit for the broader community to enjoy.
