Postgres Overhaul: Riskified’s Database Scaling Insights at RoachFest24

Cockroach Labs hosted its global annual event, RoachFest, in 2024 to provide a platform for diverse enterprises benefiting from scalable and resilient database solutions. Riskified's Harel Safra and Yoav Shemesh delivered an insightful talk on best practices for eCommerce databases at the London event. They discussed how Riskified, which serves top brands like Prada, Wayfair, and Canada Goose, built its all-in-one eCommerce fraud management platform to combat fraudulent transactions. The company migrated from Postgres to CockroachDB for greater scale, using AWS Data Migration Service (DMS) and CockroachDB Change Data Capture during the process. Riskified's Data Platform Engineering team now uses AWS auto scaling groups (ASG) to manage their CockroachDB clusters. The company shared its technical details of migration and scalability with CockroachDB at RoachFest NYC on September 26.
