Introducing Logical Data Replication in CockroachDB
Blog post from Cockroach Labs
Logical Data Replication (LDR) is introduced in Preview for the 24.3 release of CockroachDB, enabling data replication between CockroachDB clusters and allowing both clusters to actively receive traffic during replication. LDR addresses constraints faced by some customers due to their current application architectures, such as two-data center deployment limitations and application latency requirements. It provides a flexible, robust tool for users looking for high availability and low write latency, while maintaining CockroachDB's foundational differentiators of scalability, resiliency, and consistency. LDR is built into the CockroachDB binary and can be managed using SQL statements or integrated with CockroachDB's elastic admission control for seamless monitoring and conflict resolution.
