The forecast is cloudy says Ben Cherian
Blog post from Cloudflare
Ben Uretsky, a serial entrepreneur and Chief Strategy Officer of Midokura, shares his insights on cloud technology during HostingCon 2012. He explains that cloud services can be compared to furniture shopping, with Infrastructure-as-a-service being like building your own furniture at Home Depot, Platform-as-a-service similar to assembling Ikea furniture, and Software-as-a-service more akin to purchasing finished products from Crate & Barrel. Uretsky believes that cloud technology is becoming increasingly popular among hosting providers, but the term "cloud" has lost its meaning due to excessive marketing. He predicts significant growth in cloudy hosting providers, enterprise offerings, and startups filling gaps in the cloud space over the next few years.
