Summary

Cloudflare has introduced Origin Error Rate notifications, a new feature designed to detect and notify users when the company sees elevated levels of 5xx errors from their origin. Unlike previous alerts that only notified users when every request to an origin returned a 521 error for five minutes, this new system uses anomaly detection to identify spikes in error rates and alert users before issues become widespread. The feature is based on Service Level Objectives (SLOs), which are defined metrics and values agreed upon between customers and service providers. Users can choose their desired SLO and the Internet properties they want to monitor, with options for high, medium, or low sensitivity.
