Cloudflare expands Project Pangea to connect and protect (even) more community networks

Cloudflare's Project Pangea, launched in July 2021, aims to provide free access to the Internet for underserved community networks. Initially, participants were required to bring at least a /24 block of IP space; however, this requirement has now been relaxed to support more communities. Through Project Pangea, eligible networks can access various services such as internet connectivity, DDoS protection, network firewalling, and traffic acceleration for free. By partnering with community networks worldwide, Cloudflare helps provide secure, fast, and reliable Internet access through its global network while mitigating malicious traffic and empowering operators to focus on managing the last mile connections. One example is Ayva Networks in Colorado, which has experienced improved connectivity and firewall performance after connecting through Magic Transit. Project Pangea's benefits include simplifying network integration and now supporting customers without their own IP address space.
