This marked the third country to face major internet disruptions in 2022, following Tonga and Yemen. The outage affected both mobile and desktop traffic, with mobile devices typically representing 70% of internet usage in Burkina Faso. Internet connectivity was restored on January 24, 2022, after a 35-hour disruption.
