Summary

Introducing Cloudflare Hyperdrive, a new beta service for Cloudflare Workers that speeds up database queries by pooling connections across Cloudflare's network and caching popular read-only queries to reduce latency. This allows developers using traditional databases in distributed or serverless environments to improve the performance of their applications without having to migrate away from their favorite ORM libraries or rewrite existing code. Hyperdrive currently supports PostgreSQL, including Neon, Google Cloud SQL, AWS RDS, and Timescale, with plans for MySQL support by the end of 2023. During its open beta period, connection pooling is free but pricing information will be announced closer to GA (early in 2024).
