How Argo Tunnel engineering uses Argo Tunnel
Blog post from Cloudflare
Argo Tunnel is a tool that helps make origins accessible from the Internet in a secure and seamless manner. The development team at Cloudflare uses Argo Tunnel for managing their fleet of machines and sharing private sites from localhost. They initially used Docker compose, but later switched to Skaffold + Minikube, and finally settled on Tilt + Docker for Mac k8s as it offered live updates without having to rebuild containers. The team also needed a way to share their development environment with distributed members, which led them to use Argo Tunnel in combination with Cloudflare Access. This setup allowed the team to expose remote dev environments securely and authenticate users before accessing the dashboard service.
