Summary

Cloudflare's Data Localization Suite (DLS) helps customers navigate complex data protection landscapes that prioritize data localization. Launched in 2020, DLS has been adopted by many customers and is designed to address three primary concerns: encryption key jurisdiction, regional content termination and inspection, and metadata jurisdiction. The suite includes features like Keyless SSL and Geo Key Manager for encryption keys, Regional Services for decrypting and inspecting HTTPS traffic within a specified region, and Customer Metadata Boundary for keeping logs and metadata within the chosen jurisdiction. Recently, DLS has expanded to support Japan, Australia, and India in addition to Europe and America. Additionally, improvements have been made to the usability of Regional Services and the Metadata Boundary. Cloudflare plans to support more regions and provide full data localization for Zero Trust products in the future.
