DDoS Attack Trends for Q3 2021

In Q3 2021, there was a significant increase in HTTP DDoS attacks and the deployment of powerful botnets like Meris. The tech and gaming industries were the most targeted by application-layer attacks, while network-layer attacks increased by 44% worldwide compared to the previous quarter. The Middle East and Africa recorded the largest average attack increase of approximately 80%. Additionally, there was a surge in DTLS amplification attacks, with a 3,549% increase QoQ. Attackers targeted VoIP service providers with massive DDoS attack campaigns in attempts to bring SIP infrastructure down.
