Kitesurf uses Rust and WebAssembly components alongside Cloudflare Workers features including Dynamic Workers, Durable Objects, RPC, and isolated outbound networking, with an architecture centered on a session-managing Engine, per-page PageScript isolates, and stateless PageRenderer workers. Development relied heavily on AI-assisted coding guided by Web Platform Tests, real-site integration tests, and visual regression comparisons with Chromium; the browser currently passes more than 215,000 web-platform tests. In reported benchmarks, Kitesurf used roughly three to seven times less CPU and memory than Chromium for screenshots and HTML extraction, although it was about 1.7 times slower in wall-clock time. It supports CDP-compatible tools such as Puppeteer and Playwright and is suited to compatible one-shot tasks including page extraction, screenshots, and PDF creation, while Chromium remains preferable for video, WebGL, sophisticated bot challenges, and long-lived authenticated sessions.
