Cloudflare has launched a developer preview of WebMCP, a feature that lets sites expose browser-based tools to AI agents through the emerging WebMCP standard in Chrome without requiring code changes or origin redeployment. Enabled through the Cloudflare Dashboard, the service injects a same-origin bridge script at the edge that registers selected tool packs with a browser’s document.modelContext interface, allowing agents to interact with site capabilities directly rather than navigating pages designed for humans or relying on scraping. The preview includes a Content Credentials pack that locally examines C2PA image provenance metadata and a Site MCP Server pack that exposes tools from a site’s existing MCP endpoint while preserving the visitor’s same-origin session. All current tools run in the visitor’s browser, though Cloudflare plans future packs that can use edge services such as Workers AI and AI Search. Site owners can test the feature with Cloudflare BrowserRun and are invited to provide feedback as the experimental offering develops.
