Cloudflare Containers are a new platform that allows developers to run containers across the globe with little overhead, making it simple and scalable. Workers is an integration that enables users to extend routing and scheduling behavior as they see fit, allowing for fine-grained control over container lifecycle. Durable Objects provide programmable sidecars that can proxy requests to containers and manage their lifecycle. Cloudflare Containers are billed per 10ms of active compute time, with memory and CPU costs starting at $0.0000025 and $0.000020 per GB-second and vCPU-second respectively. In comparison, Google Cloud Run has similar pricing for Compute but charges more for Function instances. The platform aims to make it easy for developers to pick the right tool for the job, seamlessly shifting traffic between compute sources. The open beta is expected to be released in late June 2025.
