Cloudflare has announced a private beta for AI Index for domains, a new tool designed to help content creators make their data accessible to AI in a controlled and monetizable way while offering AI builders access to better data. By enabling an AI-optimized search index, website owners can manage and monetize how their content is accessed, while AI builders can subscribe to specific sites to receive structured updates, reducing the need for indiscriminate crawling. This new system aims to create a fairer ecosystem where content creators have more control and are compensated for their data, and AI platforms receive high-quality, structured data. Furthermore, Cloudflare's Open Index aggregates individual site indexes into a unified platform, simplifying large-scale content discovery while maintaining individual site control and compensation through a pay-per-crawl model. This initiative seeks to shift the content discovery landscape towards a more equitable and efficient model for both creators and AI developers.
